Mecum hosts World’s Largest Road Art Auction, bring in $10.9 Million in sales

Recently, Mecum Auctions, who hold the title of host of The World’s Largest Collector Car Auction and The World’s Largest Motorcycle Auction, added a third auction to their impressive list. Held on June 20th – 25th at Mecum’s company headquarters in Walworth, Wisconsin, they hosted The World’s Largest Road Art Auction.

There were more than 4,000 lots of automotive memorabilia and it featured neon, tin and wooden signs, gas pumps and globes, pedal cars, posters and more.

Mecum can definitely deem this first annual event as a success as over the six days, 92% of all lots hammered sold for an impressive $10.9 million. They have already slated this event to return in June of 2024.

One thing that Mecum has done that may be overlooked is that they have thoughtfully created vastly different, and appropriate, atmospheres for each of their World’s Largest Auctions. The Kissimmee auction brings together car collectors in the heart of Florida. The Las Vegas auction brings together motorcycle collectors in the fast paced Entertainment Capital of the World and the Road Art auction brings together collectors from around the world to the beautiful Wisconsin lake country to enjoy the camaraderie that this hobby creates.
