Leatherwood Distillery to make NHRA debut with JCM Racing in St. Louis

The NHRA is in crunch time right now with the Countdown to the Championship and as things are ramping up, JCM Racing has announced that they have welcomed a new associate marketing partner, Leatherwood Distillery, to the team.

The Leatherwood Distillery branding will appear on Tony Schumacher’s SCAG Power Equipment Top Fuel Dragster and Tim Wilkerson’s SCAG Power Equipment/Levi, Ray and Shoup Ford Funny Car at the NHRA Midwest Nationals near St. Louis.

Leatherwood Distillery is a Clarksville, Tennessee based distiller of bourbon, rye, moonshine, rum and other spirits. It was founded by retired Green Beret Andrew Lang, who, while in Afghanistan, built a homemade still to purify water for drinking. When he wasn’t purifying water he would distill moonshine with locally sourced ingredients like corn, wheat, rolled oats, dried molasses. After his Green Beret retirement, Andrew came back home to Nashville and began distilling craft spirits, then launched Leatherwood where he distills spirits like 911 Apple Pie Moonshine, Check Point Rye Whiskey, Jalapeno Lemon Rum and Vanilla Whip Moonshine.

Joe Maynard, JCM Racing Team Owner, had this to say about the partnership, “This new partnership brings together two of my favorite things – sipping Tennessee bourbon and watching the JCM Racing cars go down the track. I’m really excited about what Leatherwood Distillery is doing and what they represent. I couldn’t be prouder to introduce this brand to the NHRA community at St. Louis and beyond.

“As an Army veteran myself, I was inspired by Andrew’s story and I knew I wanted to get involved.” Joe recently acquired a co-ownership position in Leatherwood Distillery. “I’m a fan of their spirits, like the Snake Eater Bourbon, but it was Andrew’s story and his support of veteran-focused charities that really pulled me in. We share a lot of similar interests, so it made sense to get involved with the company and bring them into the fold at JCM Racing.”

For his side, Andrew Lang, Founder and Head Distiller at Leatherwood, had this to say, “This is an incredible opportunity to share our story and our products with a whole new audience. I’m looking forward to continuing our work with Joe Maynard and the Maynard family, who have already done so much for the Clarksville community. We invite fans to come see us next time they’re in the area.”

You can find Leatherwood Distillery products at retailers throughout Tennessee and at the distillery in Clarksville. The distillery itself offers tours, tasting and live music and if you’re outside of Tennessee, you can order their spirits through the Leatherwood Distillery online store.

Fans will see the Leatherwood Distillery branding on track this weekend, September 29th – October 1st, at World Wide Technology Raceway just outside of St. Louis. It’s almost a home race for both JCM drivers as Tony, who has two wins and three runner up finishes at the NHRA Midwest Nationals, grew up a few hours north of the track and Tim, who has a win and two runner up finishes at the NHRA Midwest Nationals, is based in Springfield, Illinois.
