Watch As This Mustang Attempts To Drift An Entire Race Circuit

Ford Performance was once so kind to extend us an invitation to check out their Shelby GT350 and GT350R Mustangs. Those cars were an amazing take on the normal Mustang GT, which already has an astounding 435 horsepower V8 engine. Now Ford Performance has put on another show with the Mustang, this time it’s with Vaughn Gittin Jr. and his Monster Energy Nitto Tire Ford Mustang RTR Spec 5-D.

The RTR Spec Mustang didn’t drift the entire circuit, but it certainly looked like it might be able to achieve that feat. However, Vaughan Gittin Jr. was able to achieve a 3,200 ft massive drift chaining turn 3 and 4 of the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya:

“After reviewing the circuit on paper, I was a bit skeptical as to whether or not I was going to be able to carry enough speed out of turn 2 and maintain the momentum and wheel speed to link all of turn 3,” Gittin said. “I certainly did not think that I would be able to make turns 3 and 4 one giant 3,200-foot right turn. Turn 3 is one of the longest turns on any racetrack in the world, and F1 cars attack it flat out. Thanks to massive grip generated by my Nitto NT555G2 tires coupled with the Mustangs impressive dynamics, I was able to get the speed needed to pull it off. It was literally like I was drifting forever.

“I have never been at a sustained angle for that long in my 14-years of drifting,” he said. “In order to link turn 3 to 4, I had to go over the curbing and use all of the available runoff. When I learned of the opportunity to join the FIA World Rallycross for drifting exhibitions during the event, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to get crazy on the epic Barcelona circuit.”

Check out this massive drift for yourself!
